Guardian ad litem

Definition:
A person, sometimes an attorney, appointed by the court to make sure that the child's best interests are addressed in court hearings and other proceedings.

Photo listings

Definition:
Published photographs and descriptions of waiting children and/or waiting approved adopters that are used by agencies and individuals to identify potential matches. Often an adoption exchange will publish a photo listing.

Post legalization services

Definition:
(Also called post adoption services) a variety of services offered to adoptive families after the child in the home has had their adoption legalized.
